Getting to Know Artist John French
Landscape Painter, John French lives in Michigan with his wife and two Irish Wolfhounds. He was born in Santa Fe New Mexico and lived in Italy for four years prior to moving to Michigan. John’s work is collected by people all over the United States. Earlier this year, John’s painting “Bend The Gorge” took first place in the Lake Superior Art Association Member Showcase. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
All about the color:
John’s two favorite colors to paint with are Phthalo Blue Green Shade (PB15:3) and Quinacridone Magenta (PR122), both beautiful and intense colors that he uses sparingly. His favorite color to wear is black.
It's all about the details:
We appreciate the impeccable detail that John is able to capture in his works. It is not surprising to learn that John typically spends 20 to 30 hours on a 9x12 or 11x14 canvas. John does an incredible job at capturing even the smallest details such as the tiny pebbles on the shoreline, an entire field of wheat, or even the movement of the water.
